OUR STORY

I’m so stoked you’re here!

I know you’re here for the Daizy Row lore! Don’t you fret, I got you!

I’m so stoked you’re here! My name is Maribeth Klaar; lots of people call me MB! My fave color is green, but my soul is pink... and so is my hair.

I am a wife to the best dude ever, mother to the coolest kids on earth, fully embodied entrepreneur, proud tattooer, fashion curator, apparel creator, bad skater and even worse surfer.

I freaking love my family! I also love my brain and how chaotic it is, because it has brought forth lots of cool ideas! I love laughing & being dumb. I am a creator on all levels. Whether it’s painting, crafting with my kids, designing & executing tattoos, creating apparel or pairing thrifted finds to curate the raddest outfits... I am so down for it all!

I guess I am that crazy art lady through and through.

01 / A SUPER FUN STORY WORTH SHARING

How did I come into Daizy Row?

Now you know a tidbit about me... so how did I come into Daizy Row? Haha—well, that’s a super fun story worth sharing. You see, my newfound friend, Kipp Grange, has this pretty rad clothing company called Sonder Mountain. They do really cool things like support humans struggling with addiction. Every clothing drop at Sonder Mountain helps support recovery-focused partners and real people doing the work. This is what a company with heart and soul is all about.

So I randomly stumbled upon Sonder Mountain via a Facebook ad (which is crazy cuz I literally never get on FB, lol) and was intrigued. I started scoping out the gear and I loved it! Honestly, I was a bit hooked when I discovered Kipp’s company, so I found their IG and messaged right away. I had to let them know how cool I thought their mission was and that I was super stoked to buy some stuff.

I was truly just blown away for multiple reasons and really just felt led to share a bit of light and encouragement by sending a message saying, hey—I see you. I see what you’re doing, and it’s really good stuff. I’m one of those people who just likes to be honest and open with humans when I see them doing awesome things.

AND THAT—is how this whole thing freaking started...

02 / LITTLE DID I KNOW

“We wanna collaborate with you.”

Shortly after I sent that message over to the Sonder Mountain IG, I got a response, basically saying, “We wanna collaborate with you.” Of course I am thinking, “Oh how cool that they wanna send me some stuff to showcase on socials. I’m so down.” Side note—I was planning to do that anyway, lol... Little did I know, my assumptions were waaayyyy off.

Kipp and I set up a Google Meet and instantly connected on so many levels. I got to hear all about Sonder Mountain and how his company started and where it’s at now... as well as his excitement about this new project he has lined up. A women’s clothing line.

After diving in a bit more, conversations going as they usually do—like a ping-pong match, bouncing around all over the place—we finally meet up and get to the real deal. Kipp was looking for a partner to launch the women’s line... I was that partner he was looking for.

Basically stunned? Yes. What is EVEN happening right now?

Amidst our conversation, Kipp said something to me that I really loved: “I do not have the authority to decide what women should wear, and that is why I want to partner with a woman in this new line of clothing.” Uh, yea—of course I appreciated this mindset and it got me stoked about a potential partnership.

Kipp spent a lot of time listening to me about what I think it means to wear clothing as a woman, and what women like me really want in our apparel. Our styles change and evolve as we do. We want comfort, yet we want to feel beautiful and confident. Sometimes we wanna channel our past, our younger years, because it makes us feel whole... and sometimes we wanna channel the person we aspire to be in the future because we never really stop growing.

OUR STYLES CHANGE AND EVOLVE AS WE DO

We are our past, we are our present, and we are our future all at the same time. So why not lean into that?

Sometimes ya gotta go with your gut.

03 / PARTNERS IN THIS THING

What is to gain?!!

Dude, he was so down! But in an effort to keep things short and sweet... I seized this moment with Kipp and here we are. Partners in this thing. I could not be more stoked, excited, blessed, and ready for what Daizy Row will become.

You wanna know something super funny and awesome but you might also think is totally NUTS? Upon drafting this letter, Kipp and I still haven’t met in person. Partners in this Daizy Row crime, yet never even hugged in real life! Never been on a double date with our spouses, never met each other’s kids... None of it!

I guess in a moment of transparency I thought it would be a fun bit of information to share as a small act of encouragement. Sometimes energy and vibes, albeit via a screen, can go a long way. Sometimes ya gotta go with your gut even when all the logic in the world would take you elsewhere.

Sometimes you just get asked—“Hey, you wanna build a brand-new clothing line and literally have no idea what’s gonna happen?” And respond with, “Sure, why not? What’s to lose?” Then both agree on the much better question, “WHAT IS TO GAIN?!!”

04 / MY FINAL LITTLE PERSONAL NOTES

Stepping out.
Trying something.

My final little personal notes on the matter:

Women aren’t meant to be boxed into the one style we chose back in 2012. None of us want this... but I do think that some women feel stuck, like maybe they don’t know how to step out and wear the thing they really wanna wear or do the thing they really wanna do.

Through Daizy Row, I want to encourage all women who are ready for more, or ready to step out, to DO IT and to just go. Maybe it’s wearing that weird sweater, skateboarding for the first time, letting go of the toxic relationship, getting that tattoo, or creating a family... just go.

I hope Daizy Row encourages all women that it’s not about perfection. I hope Daizy Row reminds women that it’s OK to not have the answers or the know-how. I guess I hope that choosing a piece of Daizy Row clothing will be a small act of practice toward stepping out in bigger, more meaningful ways in the future.

Take me for example. I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m literally designing clothes that maybe not one person will ever wear. I don’t care though. I am following my own advice. Stepping out. Trying something. I’m gonna fail fast so that I learn fast. I want to encourage you to do the same.

05 / I LOVE CLOTHING

Clothing is supposed
to be YOU.

Finally, I love clothing. I love what clothing has the potential to create for the person who is wearing it. Clothing can provide comfort and safety. Clothing can be a conversation starter. Clothing can be a source of encouragement or awakening. Clothing can be a part of one’s personal journey or story they wish to tell.

Being in a position to create wearable art that has the potential to adorn the bodies of incredible humans is such an honor. Truly, it is. As a creator for Daizy Row—I do not take this lightly.

Yes, clothing is, well, clothing... but to me it is so much more. It is a representation of who you are, who you were, or who you wish to become. It ever so slightly scratches the surface of you and what you wish to showcase to the world around you—or what you wanna showcase to yourself in the comfort of your own environment.

This is why clothing is so beautiful. Clothing is supposed to be YOU. It is for YOU and no one else. So have fun, play, and remember that life is far too short to care what other people think about your apparel choices.
